Bali’s first Underwater Villa’s

The Villa market in Bali is pretty full these days but no one considers our underwater friends. After talking to a marine biologist about how they tied together short lengths of plastic pipes to bring invertebrates in for study. We figured figured some small “Bis Beton” pipes would make nice habitats for our own critters here in “Mucky Pirates Bay”. So now we have 6 undersea view villa habitats spread out towards the jetty here in Pemuteran Bay. Unfurnished villas are available for rent, ideal for families, with all round salt water pool.

Currently “Mucky Pirates Bay” is pipefish heaven, or lovers bay. Its the season and we’re seeing lots of ornate ghostpipefish and Robust ghostpipefish. Also DM Abdul with Anne and her mother have found Ambon Scorpionfish right off the beach here. Anne’s photos are coming soon once she shorts out her favourites.

Thanks Anne for lending me your spare camera so I could capture these pics.

Balinese ceremonies for Piratically orientated speedboats

Once every 6 months on the Balinese calendar we have to bless all our metal and machines.

We pray to the Gods they don’t fail us at inopportune moments.

We pray for calm seas and the wind at our backs.

For a bounty of tourist gold cards in the high season so when the low season comes we know we are secure from deprivation 🙂

Dear Gods bless this fleet and all who sail in them.

Sea Rovers aid Indonesian Marine & Fisheries with water quality inspection

Indonesian-government-water-testing

Captain meets & greets government inspectors

Today we aided the Indonesian government as inspectors took out our very own ‘Nasty Nemo’, skippered by Capt Sahari, to test water quality in the local area. Taking samples between Pemuteran and Gondol from a range of 5 to 15 mtrs these scientists and inspectors spent 3 hours trawling the deeps to see what they could find.

Hopefully they’ll prove what we already know from previous tests, that the water quality in this area is bloody marvelous. 🙂

Anne’s Sea Rovers Crew

Thanks to Brethren Anne Green for sharing this fun photo of some of the misfits of Pemuteran. Pirates all.
